Logan Takes On Quarter Midget Racing!

So, snowmobile season ended and we thought we would have time to relax and take the summer off.  Who knew that shortly after we would find logan in one of these, a quarter midget  race car!  Grandpa approached us with all the information on what we would need to get Logan started and we asked Lo if he would like to race one of these over the summer and as you can guess, his answer was oh yea baby.  Grandpa bought him a 2 time championship car and logan picked out the decals and thats how it started.  Brian & I said we were just going to have him in a couple races for the first year, but after the first few practices, we knew this race car stuff was his thing.  He wants to race all time, and boy is he good.  It's like he has been racing for years.  His first race he came in first place. 5 more first places have followed and this past weekend he actually set a track record!  Good for him, terrible for Grandpa & Dad.  They had to take apart the whole engine to have it inspected, and then get it all back together.  We also said we were only going to the local races, well he talked us into taking him to Indy this weekend so we are getting ready for that!  Boy does he keep us busy!  A thank you to Grandpa for all his hard work as mechanic, Thanks to Daddy for Pit Crew, Grandma, Ella & Mom for cheering, and of course to our sponsor Tom Morrissey (FM Sylvan) for all his help and support!

Fun In Vegas

Our wonderful friends Paul & Courtney Belcher (Mountain Crane, UT) were so generous to have us accompany them for the 2008 Crane Show in Las Vegas!  Although there was a lot of work to be done, people to meet, deals to be delt, Brian and I had a fabulous time!  We started our trip by flying in to Salt Lake City, UT where we met up with Paul and Courtney.  Their home is absolutely beautiful, the view of the mountains spectacular.  Brain has a crane out there he wanted to check up on so Paul, Brian & I hopped in the truck, stopped and checked out the crane, and from there we headed out for the 6 hour drive to Vegas!  I was battling the flu and missing the kids but I couldn't of had better company to cheer me up.  Brian and Paul were a riot!  We checked in to the Hilton were we stayed the next 4 days.  The crane show was unbelievable, even for me.  I could not believe the size of those machines.  We also were able to play a little, Brian and I took a ride on the "Paris Eiffel Tower", enjoyed a Gondola Ride, visited many of the beautiful hotels, @ ate out-of-this-world- meals.  Courtney showed me what a real "Day at the Spa" is all about, 4 hours of jacuzzi, steam rooms, saunas, followed by a seaweed wrap and Swedish massage.  I was in heaven!  To end our trip, Paul & Courtney were so sweet to invite us to join them and another great couple to see Beatles Love by Cirque Du Soleil.  Boy was that a show to see.  Mind blowing!  And I forgot to mention, we took a Hot Pink Stretch Hummer to the Mirage thanks to Brian! Courtney & Paul, we can't thank you enough for a trip that we will never forget!

Logan Brings Home A 1st!

Our little man did it.  It was the final race of the season, at Treetops in Gaylord, MI.  Day one, Logan gets 1st in heat one, 3rd in heat 2, and 1st in heat 3.  Final race, Lo gets the hole shot and races his butt off  all the way to the finish line shutting out his 2 biggest rivals of the year!  Great job Logan, you deserve it.  Grandpa our mechanic deserves it to.  ENDLESS work on that machine day in and day out really paid off.  Also great job to us cheerleaders, Mom, Grandma, Ella, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins for all their support.  And Daddy too, for helping out on the track all season and playing mechanic when Grandpa could not be there.  What a great season!  Logan did receive a private invitation to the Nationals in Lake Geneva, WI (for being a top point's leader) but unfortunately Brian and I were in Vegas due to work so we could not attend this year.  If Logan receives the invite again next year, we will not miss it!

Gaylord Race

Got Snow?? Over 2 feet up there this weekend!  Saturday's race was a blast.  Logan took 1st in the first heat, a 3rd in the second heat (against the top 3 riders) and not so good in the last heat but only because the sled was run a little too fat accidentally.  Then to the pro track (final race)- it was on and  Lo  raced his butt off.  He was neck & neck with the 2nd place rider at the top but cut a little wider that he should (we are all learning) and took a well earned 3rd.  He did end up with a second place trophy though due to another racer getting disqualified for blocking.  Over all he rode the best he has yet.  The sled is running excellent, what a difference in both from the last few races.  We are learning and it shows!  My dad & Brian went back to the cabin and immediately started working on the sled.  They wanted to switch gears and change the clutch a little to give Logan a bit more for Sunday. We were so dissapointed to get to the race to have them tell us it was cancelled.  We were sooo ready!  Nothing you can do in blizzard conditions, extreme winds, and -6 below.  Good thing is, everything is set and ready to go for our next race in Cadillac!  We are so proud of Logan.  He is so focused and he knows it is within his reach, most importantly he has a ball out there.  Extra thanks to Gram & Gramps for their late nights and early mornings devoting their time to creating the "perfect sled".  We love you!

School Days

Logan & Ella Rae have both come a long way in school so far this year.  They have been doing outstanding work.  Logan just got his report card and he has excelled in every subject.  He is currently in 3rd grade levels in math, spelling, & reading.  He has received perfect scores on all of his spelling tests, book reports, science tests, vocabulary tests, geography tests, and even received a perfect score on his first science fair project.  He enjoys learning very much!  Ella Rae has been doing a wonderful job to.  She has a great imagination, and is learning many things.  She has mastered number recognition, shapes, letter sounds, and some spanish words.  Her favorite is music with Mr. Bob.  She always wants to go to school, even on the weekends!

Happy New Year To All!

Lots of new things for the New Year!  We spent 11 days up at the cabin over Christmas break!  What a great time!  Our tradition of "Christmas at the Cabin"  was a highlight of the year again.  Ornament making, presents, turkey dinner, and family fun.  We also did a lot of snowmobiling.  Reason being, our Logan has started racing his snowmobile.  He joined World Power Sports this winter and has started snow cross.  Boy has it been fun.  Scary at times too.  Logan just loves it.  He is very aggressive and as most know, very competitive.  We entered him at the last second, he just decided he wanted to really "race" his sled.  We thought it would be something fun for him, less intense & less competitive than karate.  BOY WERE WE WRONG!  I don't think there has been a day since 3 weeks before the first race that his Grandpa has not worked on his sled.  Fixing, rotating, oiling, lubing, ect. ect.  I should say Grandpa & Grandma too.  Brian & I get to do the registration, packing, traveling & coaching.  I feel like Logan's entourage.  Anyway, he is doing great.  He has brought home 4 trophys in 5 races!  He has 3 more races to go this season not including the Nationals that are held in Lake Geneva, WI.  We are going to take him so that Brian's family will get a chance to see him race. (Brian's home town is about 30 miles from Lake Geneva.)
We are also back into the karate scene. His first tournament of the year will be on Feb. 16th.  We are also planning on going to the U.S. Open in Disney again this year!  Busy Busy.
